Though Azarashi isnt nearly as great as some of his other games (Cave Story), the simplicity of Pixels port of one of his first games is still high-quality. Though it seems like just a reaction test at first, Azarashi (which is Seal in Japanese, I think) is very addicting. To stop the seal keychains from falling, you must tap it. If you tap too soon it comically sticks its tongue out and "Blood" comes out. Its very cartoony; the blood is just some red circles coming out. I never play M-rated video games, and I only occaisionally play T-rated games, but I was fine with the blood in this game. I dont think people under eight or nine years old should play it, though. One of the of pluses of this game is the art style. Pixels art is cute, detailed and works perfectly with this game. Theres little touches, like Ame the cat and the trophies shaped like cats that reference some of his other works. These improve the pixelated yet polished feel of the game. Unfortunately, this game has one major setback: the game barely has any content. If you appreciate the graphics, music and the simple gameplay, itll be worth your money, but those who dont appreciate these will be disappointed with this. Overall, this is a good game, with addictive gameplay, great visuals and catchy music, but theres not a lot of content. Fans of Pixel will enjoy, but if youve never played Cave Story, Ikachan or any of his other games, I dont think you should buy it.
This is ah-mazing. Period.
Pixel has done a good job nailing the kind of design elements suited for a bite-sized mobile game. The gameplay is essentially a reaction test and it does it in a cute and charming way. Style of the games aesthetics is instantly identifiable as being a game made by Pixel. The smooth animations and scene transitions are also a nice touch that add a lot to the polish. Overall I was satisfied with my purchase and I was glad I got a chance to pay Pixel for his efforts. I look forward to buying his future games.
This is the kind of game that may seem almost overly simply when first played. Play a little more, though, and youll figure out that it was worth the 99¢. The mechanics work very well and the controls are responsive. Just a great game overall.
This was a great game! Some said it is like having a piece of Cave Story on your iDevice, and I agree. Pixels art style and music shines in this game as always, and it was very fun to play. It is a quick play though, and I thought it could have been a free game, but nonetheless, if you like Cave Story and/or Pixel, then I would buy this game. Now Nicalis: where is that iOS port of Ikachan you promised????
This is a highly polished game with wonderful graphics and what is there is great. However, at .3M theres not a lot there. So, the replay value is good but not great. If I could suggest one thing it would be to allow you to choose which of the keychains randomly show up after you have unlocked them. I definitely have my favorites and I would like seeing them more often. If there is a way to do this after getting all of the keychains, I totally retract this suggestion.
Ignore what I said XP I read it wrong. He is working on Rockfish for iPod.
Great app! Simple, yet fun and addictive. Cool that u can unlock new keychains too. I am a huge fan of Cave Story so anything pixel makes I will buy!! :D First played it a lot on the computer and Im glad that they ported it to iOS. Buy it!!!
Okay so at first I thought this game was really lame. I am a big fan of Pixels works and I was disappointed about the limited content. However, this game DOES become quite competitive. Once you begin unlocking more keychains more opportunities arise. Plus one "game" seriously lasts one freaking minute- perfect if youre waiting in line at a store or waiting for someone. Its very cute and has a bomb soundtrack just like Cave Story. A little piece of the greatness of Pixels work. ✌I really gotta report one glitch though: you cant turn the game over, its sort of locked on the other side of landscape and to me feels very unnatural. Fix?
My gosh, first you will go "aw, that is so cute!" Then you will figure out the ranking system, and keep at it until you have all of the items, including the lowest reward, that darn blue tuna can! Finally you will play until you unlock all the key chains with their adorable animation (so far I have 3 seal varieties, a frog, and a cat- is there anything else)! Even when you think youve gotten everything, you will still try to be a ninja and get a perfect 1800 score as well as more frog and cat medals! My only criticism is that there is only one ninety second song in the game, when the maker is a genius composer who has made two composition softwares. Even throwing in new renditions of his old songs from the PiyoPiyoPlayer would be nice as unlockables. Still- anybody who wants to feel like a ninja should purchase this game.
